There are a few schools here, along with some fairly low-key shops. <\/span><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01668.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">This is Yoyogi Seminar, the main campus for a nationwide chain of cram schools&#8230; <\/span><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01674.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01676.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">&#8230;and this is the building for the other famous franchise based in Yoyogi &#8211; the Yoyogi Animation Academy, If you look carefully, you can see illustrations on the second and third floor windows. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Harajuku<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00549.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01766.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">This is Harajuku station. <\/span>There&#8217;s always a big crowd out front. <\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00548.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">Snoopy Town is right across the street from Harajuku station. As you&#8217;d expect, it&#8217;s got nothing but <em>Peanuts <\/em>merchandise. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00570.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01737.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01745.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01746.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01747.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01753.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">On the weekends, this bridge next to the station is a gathering place for goths, punks, hipsters and other fashionistas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01754.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">This guy here was putting on a show by moving this puppet without touching it. Where have I seen that before? <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"test23a.jpg\" width=\"539\" height=\"810\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">This guy was busting all sorts of crazy moves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01757.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">This street was simply too crowded to pass through.<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01761.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">SoftBank (the mobile phone service provider) was running a promo here using balloon animals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00553.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00556.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">This is <em>Tenshi no Sumika<\/em>, a doll shop. They have some pretty amazing stuff inside, but we weren&#8217;t allowed to take any photos. <\/span><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00559.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/p>\n<p ><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00558.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\"><em>Omotesandou<\/em> is  the main drag in Harajuku. There are fashion shops on each side for hundreds of metres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00560.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"303\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">Most of the crossings here are huge to accomodate the large crowds. <\/span><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00563.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"303\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">Condomania. Can you guess what they sell? <\/span><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00566.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p ><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00568.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">Funky English slogans are everywhere in Harajuku.<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span class=\"style16\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC00569.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">This shop managed to draw massive lines by cutting 50% off the price of everything in store.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<h2>Meiji Shrine<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01683.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">The park where the shrine is located. Easily the quietest place for miles around. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01692.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">A building for sanctifying your car. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01695.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">The shrine itself was packed with people keen to get their <em>omikuji<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01698.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">Here&#8217;s where the <em>ema<\/em> are hung. No silliness at this particular shrine, though. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01701.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01704.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">The main shrine building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01707.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">We were lucky enough to see what I&#8217;m guessing was a wedding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01710.JPG\" width=\"404\" height=\"539\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"style16\">We visited countless shrines during our travels, but these were the only three dimensional miko that we encountered. <\/span><\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01711.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">These pieces of calligraphy were done by junior high students from across the country. <\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01721.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01727.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Meiji shrine museum. It contains a portrait of each emperor up to the present day, as well as a number of items owned by emperor Meiji. <\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01732.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Even the vending machines here are stylised. <\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"DSC01734.JPG\" width=\"539\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The museum annexure is in this more modern-looking building on the other side of the park.
